Event Photography at the Minehead Bay Festival, Somerset
The Brief
I was contacted by the Minehead Bay Festival team in 2022 to document their art and culture festival on 3rd September and also the following year in 2023. From arts and crafts, live music and gong baths to live street art paintings, sand sculptures, circus performances and skateboarding, both events were an eclectic mix of art and culture, bringing the local community together in Minehead, West Somerset.
Delivery
On both occasions in 2022 and 2023, I documented the various activities and events happening throughout the festival site, running from one activity to another to capture the atmosphere and buzzing energy of the event. Fortunately, after years of experience photographing events, I am used to quick fire photography where speed is a necessity and engaging with the artists to capture their personality and talent.
The Results
The images captured on the day really represent the electric atmosphere and community spirit that were evident at the festival. The festival team worked hard to create a free community event that was inclusive and accessible to all - all ages, genders, nationalities and backgrounds. I captured all elements of the festival from the incredible skaters on the skate ramp, to the mind-blowing sand sculpture created by World Champion Sand Sculptor, Nicola Wood, and the various bands, musicains and performers that brought a dynamic element to the day.
Both days were a huge success and I look forward to the next one in 2024. If you’d like to chat about how I can capture your event with professional festival photography, get in touch now.
